Father John S. Liebler
Fr. John was born and raised in Coral Gables, Florida where his family was deeply active in an episcopal congregation.
He graduated twice from the University of Notre Dame (B.A. Philosophy, 1976; M.S., Counseling Psychology, 1977) and received his Master’s of Divinity Degree from university of South Sewanee, Tennessee in 1981. He was ordained priest in Tequesta, Florida in 1981. Before coming to St. Andrew’s he served as assisting priest at Good Shepherd, Tequesta, as Episcopal Chaplain at University of Central Florida, and as rector of St. Peter the Fisherman New Smyrna Beach. He and his wife, Cindy, have two sons. Larry, age 27, lives in Georgia and teaches skydiving. Frank, age 25, recently graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design with a Mater’s Degree in Architecture.
The breadth and diversity of our Anglican Heritage comes together in his spiritual journey. He was raised in the Anglo-Catholic (High Church) tradition, spiritually awakened as a teenager throughout the Charismatic movement, steeped in the academic liberal scholarly tradition in college and seminary, and re-awakened spiritually through the conservative-evangelical ministry of Bishop John Howe.
Father John came to St. Andrew’s in 2002.
