Flower Guild

What is the Flower Guild?

Visitors to St. Andrew’s often comment on the grace and simplicity of its interior.  The inside of the church has little ornamentation, nevertheless, fresh flowers always enhance this simplicity. What visitors may not realize is that these flowers are special offerings to God and to the St. Andrew’s community.  Each week the members of the Flower Guild offer up their own gifts by lovingly decorating the church.

Flower Guild members select, order and arrange flowers to decorate the altar for worship on Sundays and holidays. Members of the Flower Guild create and place flower arrangements on the altar for weddings and funerals.

The flowers help people focus on the altar.  A different member of the guild is on duty each week to prepare the flowers, and the members are responsible for having arrangements completed on time and for maintaining them during the week.

Ministry Requirements

A love of beauty and an interest in expressing it are the requirements for this ministry.

Time Requirements

Members spend about two hours on either Friday or Saturday morning purchasing flowers and arranging them into attractive containers for the church altar.

Training in the arrangement of flowers is offered from time to time.
