We have some exciting news to share with you regarding our prayerful and deliberate process to call our new rector. The
vestry has elected the Reverend Reid T. McCormick to serve as our next Rector. We are confident that Father Reid will
provide the spiritual and administrative leadership necessary for us to fulfill our future ministry needs and desires in Fort
Pierce and St. Lucie County. Reid and his wife Jackie will begin their ministry on or before June 1.
Father Reid was serving as Rector of St. Thomas Episcopal Church located in Greenville, Alabama. Prior to that
time he served in the Diocese of Central Florida at All Saints Winter Park, St. Michael’s and Emmanuel in Orlando, Good
Shepherd Maitland and Church of the Ascension in Hickory North Carolina. Reid was born and raised in Ponte Vedra and
the Jacksonville Beaches area. Prior to ordination, Reid was a part of his family construction business and also served four
years as Mayor of the City of Jacksonville Beach. Reid is a graduate of the Episcopal High School of Jacksonville, earned
his Building Construction degree from Auburn University and his Masters of Divinity from the School of Theology at the
University of the South located in Sewanee, Tennessee.
Father Reid has spent his entire life as an Episcopalian and views his ordination as a step on the path of his ongoing
discernment as a follower of Christ, a path that we all share, ordained or otherwise. Father Reid enjoys engaging in
pastoral work that invites meaningful relationships and the presence of Christ; he enjoys varied forms of worship and
planning liturgies from traditional to contemporary; he believes in preaching that shines the light on the challenges of
daily living and finding hope in God’s abiding love; and most importantly, he believes that we should not take ourselves
so seriously that we lose sight of God’s presence in our lives. Father Reid is excited about joining us to fulfill the
initiatives that we have begun through God’s Vision, Our Mission. Being the recipient of an Episcopal school education,
he has personally experienced the impact of that combined spiritual influence and desires that St. Andrew’s Academy will
continue to serve a similar role for the faculty, students and their families.
Reid and Jackie have two daughters, Molly and Natalie, whom we will meet in time. Molly lives in Jacksonville and
Natalie is married and lives in Birmingham, Alabama. Reid and Jackie enjoy nature and the outdoors, have hiked the
mountains in Acadia National Park, have hiked in and out of the Grand Canyon and rafted the entire Colorado River. Reid
enjoys varied outdoor activities from saltwater fishing to archery hunting to boat building.
Please join us in welcoming Reid and Jackie to our community!
Yours in Christ,
Senior Warden of the Vestry
